WELCOME TO SARA’S PORTFOLIO!
take a look at some of my best work :)
CAM WEBSITE
CAM is the College of Arts and Media at the University of Colorado Denver. My project here was to create a website that captured the feel of CAM, while also creating an equally inclusive space for all art majors.
COFFEE SHOP REBRAND
Sojourner’s Coffee is a local coffee shop in the Denver area that has been a staple for about a decade. As a frequent customer, I felt the shop was unappreciated for its original pastries, themes, and unbeatable prices. Because it uniquely incorporates a world travel theme, I decided to create a brand centered around the nostalgic feel of 1950s-60s postcards from around the world. A winking suitcase on the go with a hot cup of coffee represents the shop as an adorable and reliable mascot.
CHAPSTICK REBRAND
For this ethical rebrand, I chose a popular brand, Chapstick, and considered a new audience with new approaches. This rebrand considers a new audience with more colorful and playful styles while taking an environmentally conscious point of view. Products will be made from recycled materials and ingredients will be ethically sourced.
To specifically set Chapstick apart from the crowd, I included several different personality mascots to represent a new unique lip balm. These little guys will appear on social media, merch, and more!
GOODLES PROMO ANIMATION
The noodle brand Goodles is a colorful and personality-filled company that provides unique products for its customers. They focus on silly and fun graphics that stand out on the grocery store shelves. For this project, I wanted to create an animated advertisement that represented their eclectic and colorful personality. Using Cinema 4D, I 3D modeled a few silly little noodles by hand, and got to work on the dancing.
SPOOKY SHAPES
Simple 2D animations created in Adobe After Effects that create a looping silly spooky scene. This project was meant to showcase my personal style as well as ability to create dynamic and interesting movements with simple shapes. Something like this project could be applied to Instagram or TikTok reels for a fun promo!
PIRATE ZINE
And they were Mateys: Queer Moments in Piracy is a zine I created for a class project. It educates the reader on historical queer instances in piracy, complemented by punk and collage-oriented aesthetics. This project specifically highlights experimental typography and print layouts.
Using Adobe Indesign, I was able to layer text and photos seamlessly while keeping consistent and printable margins. Photos and riso-printed effects were also curated in Adobe Photoshop for a nostalgic feel. Overall, this zine represents historical queer moments in both the 1970s and the 1720s.
PUNK BAND CD SET
For this project, I was prompted to create a fake band and design a CD cover based on my own photography. I decided to create a queer punk band named FEM 4 FEM, which would pull from early 70s zine influences and styles that reflected influential bands such as the Sex Pistols.
To create the design, I modeled thrifted dolls by cutting their hair, designing clothes, and drawing on makeup and tattoos. Using a sheet and a trusted friend, I photographed the carefully posed dolls with some accessories to further complement the aesthetic.
